Rational Group and Right To Play

PokerStars TeamPros Jake Cody, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Eugene Katchalov, Leo Margets and Bertrand Grospellier believe in the right to play.

Rational Group and Right To Play transforming children's lives

Rational Group has joined Right To Play at the forefront of an exciting movement to give children a healthy, safe and successful start in life. Together we are giving training and support to 2,500 Right To Play Coaches, who will change the lives of 185,000 children around the world.
Our transformational partnership launched at the Quintessentially Foundation's Poker Night on 13th November 2014 and continues to go from strength to strength in 2015.

Rational Group has pledged to fund a further 1,000 Coaches this year through fundraising initiatives. At the end of last year, PokerStars Team Pro, Fatima Moreira de Melo, raised 5,000 euros for Right To Play at the Sky Radio Christmas Tree for Charity competition.

The 21st March saw PokerStars host a charity night for Right To Play in Malta as part of the first ever EPT Malta tournament schedule. Local dignitaries, media and PokerStars Team Pros, including Jake Cody and Fatima Moreira de Melo, played in a charity poker tournament to raise funds for Right To Play. Fatima Moreira de Melo, Team PokerStars SportStar and Right To Play ambassador, said: "For me, one of the most fun ways to raise money and awareness for charity is by playing poker. Right To Play is a fantastic charity that I'm honoured to be associated with, and I can't wait to represent them at EPT Malta." We are delighted that the evening raised 15,000 Euros, bringing us halfway towards our 2015 target of £120,000.

Right To Play Coaches

Children are suffering needlessly from preventable diseases, missing out on a quality education, or getting caught in the crossfire of conflict. For these vulnerable children, someone they can trust can make the difference between a life of hardship and one that is safe and fulfilled.

DSC_0238 - Copy.JPGRight To Play's volunteer Coaches are just such people. By leading Right To Play's educational games, they are giving children crucial life skills. Thanks to them, we can reach the most inaccessible children and give them and their communities a brighter future.

At 14-years-old, Pontien Ugirumurera was caught up in the Rwandan genocide in which his brother, sister and father were killed. When the horror ended, Pontien moved from his countryside home to Kigali in the hope of leaving behind the trauma and making a new life for himself. He trained as a teacher and was invited to become a Right To Play Coach.

"Twenty years ago I had lost so much. I could not imagine ever forgiving those who had killed my family. Right To Play has given me the opportunity and tools to build lasting peace in my school and community. Through playing the Right To Play games I see the children learning how to accept each other despite their differences, and I know that they, and I, can be part of making a peaceful future for Rwanda."

Pontien talks further about how Right To Play has transformed his life here.

Rational Group's Helping Hands

HelpingHands-logo-on-white.jpgThrough its corporate giving programme Helping Hands, Rational Group has generously donated £300,000 to Right To Play. Together we are supporting 2,500 Right To Play Coaches, like Pontien, to transform the lives of 185,000 children around the world.

But we want to do more.

Together, PokerStars' Team Pros, players, and employees want to raise enough to train another 1,000 Right To Play Coaches.

Help us colour in the Coaches in the chart below to reach our goal of training 3,500 Right To Play Coaches this year:
