Right To Play and GTV Launch Partnership

Gordon Brown, the new Prime Minister, recently encouraged the English Premier League to make sure that when the new round of TV rights were allocated for Africa the issue of accessibility to a bigger slice of the population was seriously considered. In stepped GTV, brain-child of Gateway Communications founder Julian McIntyre, the 32-year old entrepreneur, with a new vision of TV in Africa. GTV's pitch focused around slashing the price of pay-for-view TV in Africa by as much as half compared to current providers - and they won the Premiership rights!
Marcel Desailly, Right To Play's latest Athlete Ambassador
As a further example of their commitment to grassroots sport in Africa, the next step of GTV was to approach Right To Play to become their new charity partner. GTV offered to promote our programmes before every TV screening of their

Premiership games - a huge audience for Right To Play. A three-year 'initial agreement' has been set up which also includes funding support.

We managed to secure the services of our newest Athlete Ambassador, Marcel Desailly, to attend the launch of GTV in Nairobi. Marcel, former Chelsea and France captain, World Cup winner, three-times European Champions League winner, flew in for the media conference and the glitzy launch event.

Chris Robinson, UK National Director, said; 'Julian and I have a longer term plan for GTV and Right To Play, and they have all been a joy to deal with. Their genuine commitment to us is terrific. Marcel's attendance really lifted our profile too as he is a real gentleman and we are very pleased to have him on board'.
