Look After Yourself, Look After One Another: Giving Back

Regular communication with alumni includes updates on opportunities available to assist with recruitment, awareness, fundraising and events, and postings for volunteer and staff positions. We need your assistance in spreading the recruitment message to attract new field volunteers. An active alumni network is essential to extending the international reach of Right To Play and supporting the organization to achieve its goals.

Right To Play promotional materials are available to alumni. If there is an event where you can represent Right To Play or are interested in giving support to an existing event, please be sure to let us know.

International Volunteer Training

Jan 2006 Volunteer Training Toronto

Right To Play's larget International Volunteer training to date wrapped up early February in Toronto.

Almost 50 new Volunteers flew in for ten days of intensive sessions and workshops. As an alumnus, it may interest you to note the profile of recently recruited volunteers. The average age of this group was 29 years, with a range of 23 to 60 years. Volunteers representing 12 countries from Burundi to Finland made for a dynamic team of varied experience and backgrounds. Half of the group have academic qualifications of a Masters Degree or higher. Of particular note is that three alumni have rejoined Right To Play for another contract, and eight in-field volunteers were accepted to extend for a second contract. This is encouraging for us, to say the least.

Recruiting New Right To Play Volunteers

As an alumnus you are a key player in helping us attract exceptional individuals to implement Right To Play projects in field. Close to half of the volunteers at training this winter first learned about Right To Play by word of mouth, so we know people are talking about us. Alumni are uniquely able to share first-hand how the power of sport can affect individuals and communities, and your perspective is a powerful tool in encouraging others to apply.

If you have the opportunity to speak about Right To Play with potential applicants, let us know and we’ll make every effort to provide you with the resources you need. A great deal has changed recently at Right To Play, both in our offices and in the field, so if you do have the opportunity or are interested in opportunities to represent the organization locally, let us know and we’ll be sure that you have what you need.

Alumni Voices

Thank you to those of you who took up the challenge to share a single sentence with us capturing the essence of your Right To Play experience. Reading these has been rewarding and we will be sharing your thoughts through the web site and other communications materials in the future. If you have stories or thoughts that you’d like to share at anytime, please send these to alumni@righttoplay.com. We welcome your energy and ideas, and we need your support in telling others about your experience.
